We have a small team of board members of the foundation. Here is a bit about each of them, including declarations of any other directorships and any substantial shareholdings.

Current Board

Steve Coast (Director, Chairman) is the founder of OpenStreetMap. Steve has worked in many heavy lifting computing applications before co-founding a web consultancy firm with Nick Black in 2006. In 2008 this became CloudMade after investment by Sunstone Capital.

Henk Hoff (Director) is an IT consultant with a focus on neogeography. He lives in the Netherlands. Henk discovered OSM in the spring of 2006 and is an active contributor as mapper and speaker. He joined the OSMF board in 2008.

Mikel Maron is a software developer specializing in web mapping and collaborative tech. He’s based in San Francisco, but is not there very much. Mikel started with OpenStreetMap in 2005, is currently serving his third year on the board, and advocates free and open mapping in the developing world. Mikel is currently a co-director of Ground Truth Initiative, which has implemented Map Kibera. He is also President of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.

Simone Cortesi (Director) is a IT Business Consultant based in Italy. He has been part of several Open Source project, most notably PHP. He has been involved in OpenStreetMap since 2005, first as a contributor, then starting 2008 as a member of the OpenStreetMap Foundation Team.

Iván Sánchez Ortega is vocational computer scientist, currently working as a GIS developer, based in Spain. A FLOSS advocate since the year 2000, he gained interest in neogeography and OSM in late 2006. He has been promoting OSM through Spain since then. His aims include OSMF local chapters, data imports, and promote OSM usage in mapping agencies.

Oliver Kühn (Director) Oliver is co-founder of skobbler, a company building software solutions based on OpenStreetMap. He works in the digital mapping industry for 6 six years while his expertise is rather on the commercial than the technical side. He has joined the OpenStreetMap Foundation in 2009 and has been elected as member of OSMF board in August 2010.

Former Board Members

Michael Collinson (Secretary, Director) is a technical entrepreneur currently based in Sweden and a contributor to the OpenStreetMap project since 2005. A keen hiker, cyclist and an early career in oil exploration geophysics fostered a fascination with maps, remote-sensing and geo-referenced information. He first joined the OSMF board in 2007 and acts as membership secretary. He is currently working on artificial intelligence techniques for a hedge-fund start up, Stiernegrip Trading Strategies, and is Managing Director of Xave Pty Ltd., a software development company.

Andy Robinson (Treasurer, Director) is a professional Civil Engineer (Tunnelling) based in the UK and long time contributor to the OpenStreetMap project having signed up in September 2005. Andy has a keen interest in maps as well as a desire to see geographic and related data more widely available to the public. He first joined the OSMF board in 2007. Andy currently administers funds received personally from Cloudmade Ltd to run mapping events in the UK.

Ulf Möller is an IT consultant based in Germany. He has contributed to several open source and commercial crypto software packages, including as a member of the OpenSSL development team. Ulf has been mapping in Munich and the Bavarian Alps since he discovered OSM in 2007. He joined the OSMF board in 2009.
